Part of the Veterinary Hospital Group since 2013, this clinic has been providing a dependable high-end service for pets for years. The Veterinary Team consists of Deborah Samson, Tyler Roennfeldt-Philp, Kimberley Duncan and Lauren Allen.
The nursing team of Jordan, Nastassja, Raylene, Meghan, Amber, Stitch, Tanya, and Gay are here for all of your questions and to give your pets the TLC they deserve.
Deborah returned to Hobsonville Vet Clinic in January 2010. She lives locally in West Harbour with her husband Stephen. She has a Curly Coated Retriever named Rata and a cat named Piper. Deborah can be found at the gym by 5am every morning before work. Your dog and cat can be assured of treats and calm, gentle handling so that they love visiting again.
Tyler graduated from The University of Adelaide, South Australia in 2019. After completing her degree, she wasted no time becoming a ‘kiwi’ and moved across the Tasman. Any creature that wanders through the doors will always be treated like one of her own, but she has a particular soft spot for the care and comfort of your senior citizens (especially larger breeds). She can be found at Hobsonville just about every day of the week, but if it’s winter, you might have better luck tracking her down on the ski fields.
Lauren graduated from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, before ‘crossing the ditch’ in reverse to move over to Auckland. In her spare time you’ll find her looking after her garden, at the gym, hiking the Waitakere ranges or relaxing at the beach with a good book. She is still settling in to her new life in Auckland and has adopted an adorable English springer spaniel named Lewie.
Our esteemed Clinic manager has been nursing since 2014 after completing both the Diploma in Veterinary Nursing and a Certificate in Animal Management. She shares her home with lovely husband, Andrew, 4 cats Batman, Tabatha, Rusty and Ace as well as 3 crazy dogs named Nitro, Louie and Monty.
Jordan is part of the Hobsonville furniture, but has now reduced his time with us to 2 days a week. He is currently pursuing a career in counselling, with study taking up most of his spare time, but for his nursing days, you’ll primarily find him out the back taking care of our daily surgical and hospital patients. He has a cat called Leopold, who… is sometimes hard to love, but in a way is a fantastic test of tolerance, especially when he releases live mice and birds into the house at 3am.
After 15 years in the corporate marketing rat race, Raylene jumped at her chance to take on a more vocational path and joined our team at Hobsonville Veterinary Hospital. Already diploma qualified as a veterinary nurse, Raylene is continuing her education by working towards the Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing degree, with a special focus in companion animal behaviour. Home life is busy with husband Toby, 3 teenage girls, 2 dogs - Evie the westie, Vedder the miniature schnauzer cross; 6 cats - Nala, Zephyr, Pumpernickle, Sami, Sid Vicious and Mildred.
Tanya graduated back in 2020 with a Diploma in veterinary nursing. She is passionately keen, cares for all creatures great and small. She runs a bi-monthly puppy socialization class here at the clinic, and on occasion will do mobile nursing to help clients whenever necessary for continual care of their fur baby. With two cockatiels, 2 chickens, 2 teenage boys and 4 cats she is a busy mum.
After finishing the Diploma in Vet Nursing at Vet Nurse Plus in 2020, Stitch worked at an after hours emergency clinic before join general practice. They have a passion for companion animals of all shapes and sizes, especially enjoying the occasional puppy and kitten cuddles. In their spare time they enjoy crocheting soft toys and relaxing when not catering to a house full of pets.
Meghan is currently in her second and final year of DVN study and has been with us since the beginning of last year. She has also done some medial training with dogs through Unitec. She has moulded well with our Hobsonville Team and has become apart of the Hobby Family. Meghan has always had an affinity for caring for all animals which has lead her on her path today. She doesn’t own any pets yet but hopes to start her own fur family in the near future.
Amber has been in clinical practice since 2018 and recently joined the Hobsonville Vet team June 2024. She has a background in both general practice and emergency. Amber enjoys veterinary nursing all rounds – from reception to monitoring anaesthesia. Amber has a soft spot especially for cats, and also has 3 rescue cats of her own since working in practice (Maggi, Matt and Melo).
Gay has worked in Vet clinics for the last 11 years. Whilst she enjoys reception work her focus of interest is in canine behaviour and puppy socialising classes. She spends a lot of time looking after her Irish terrier Tilly and Chihuahua cross Benji.
